Kirkburton 6 - 0 Churwell Lions
Despite the result this was a determined, hard working performance against a very good side.
Emily played up front on her own and Jenny,Amy and Georgia all covered every blade of grass in midfield.Chelsea and Olivia were excellent in defence and Lauren made some decent saves.
One of the goals was a fluke, another was a deflection and a third was also a bit lucky.Having said that, the best team won but Kirkburton were able to make changes as the match progressed but as we didn’t have any subs, everyone had to dig in and make the best of it and we probably put in more effort during a 6 - 0 defeat than we had done in the 6 - 0 win in the previous match.

Churwell Lions U13's 2 - 3 Scissett U13's
We dominated this match from start to finish and whilst we had more than our fair share of bad luck, for the 2nd match in a row we gifted the other team all 3 of their goals
Emily and Jenny had already gone close before Scissett took the lead in the fifth minute with their first attack of the game, when we allowed them far too much time and space out wide.Jenny then had a shot well saved and Emily hit the post after she reacted first to a near post corner. We failed to clear a simple loose ball at the other end to give Scissett their second halfway through the first half.Emily then hit the underside of the bar with a fierce shot and with Scissett's keeper falling backwards and landing on top of the ball, just as it was about to cross the line after Jenny had shot through her legs,we somehow went in 2 down at the break.
The onslaught continued in the second half,Ellie hit the post,Chelsea shot just wide,Jenny had another goalbound effort turned away for a corner and Nicole was inches away from reaching what would have been a tap in at the back post. When Scissett then broke and maintained their perfect record of 3 shots and 3 goals,we could be forgiven for accepting it was not going to be our day but to everyone's credit we came back even stronger than before.Jenny beat 2 defenders and played a through ball to Ellie who forced a fine save but Scissett's keeper and the woodwork were finally beaten when Amy ran through the middle of the defence and hammered the ball into the roof of the net.
As we continued to push forward,Scissett had several opportunities to attack on the break but Olivia ,operating as almost a lone defender and Lauren, playing both keeper and sweeper dealt with everything that was thrown at them.More chances followed for us and Ellie pulled the score back to 2-3,cutting in from the left and shooting low into the near corner. An equaliser was the least we deserved but time finally ran out leaving us nothing to show for a fantastic effort.
Amy was voted Player of the Match

Wortley FC 2 - 5 Churwell Lions
This win should guarantee a third place finish,as before the kick off Wortley were the only side who could catch us.
Ellie and Jenny both had early chances and Georgia hit a post but it was Wortley who opened the scoring with a low shot from the right into the far corner of the goal.
We responded well though,Georgia and Chelsea both shot over the bar and Ellie had a shot well saved by the Wortley keeper. With Wortley reduced to playing on the break,Lauren saved at an attacker's feet and Olivia and Kristi both made crucial interceptions when we got carried away and they were left outnumbered at the back.Emily levelled the scores with a close range finish from Jenny's pass and then scored her second after Jenny and Ellie combined well to set her up.
Jenny had a shot cleared off the line on the stroke of half time but scored the goal of the match early in the second half, running through the Wortley defence before placing the ball in the corner of the net.An increasingly rare break from Wortley pulled the score back to 2-3 but we were now well in control,Amy had a shot saved by the keeper and Ellie hit the bar before Emily got her hat trick, turning in Chelsea's cross.Georgia then hit the post and Nicole shot just over the bar before Jenny completed the scoring with a low shot into the corner from Amy's pass.
Emily was voted player of the match.
